Specializing Northwest Coast Native Art, House of Himwitsa offers First Nation jewellery, wooden masks, gold and silver jewellery, and wooden carvings. Unique in Himwista is local First Nations artists and featuring Canadian Native Art.

The House of Himwitsa Native Art Gallery was established in 1991 in the rural town of Tofino, Vancouver Island, BC, Canada, where it is known for its abundance of bears, whales, eagles, salmon and numerous wildlife creatures. In addition, Tofino is a common place for not only fishing trips, whale watching and bear watching, but also for its serene beauty of the mountains, forests, beaches, hiking trails, kayaking and surfing. There are many Indian galleries throughout the native North America, but none like the House of Himwitsa Native Art Gallery. It is First Nations owned and operated, specializing native aboriginal art in Tofino, carvings and native Indian jewelry in Tofino by various talented local and prolific Aboriginal artists.

House of Himwitsa Native Art Gallery offers a diverse collection of traditional Indian art work in Tofino and carvings such as Indian masks, carvings, paddles, drums, paintings, totem poles and woven basketry. These beautiful masterpieces are made by the region’s most sought out artists originating from Nuu-chah-nulth, Alert Bay (Kwakwaka’wakw), Coast Salish and Tsimshian Nation. Cowichan Indian sweaters among other clothing and apparel can also be found in the gallery.

As each tradition is passed down to the next generation, it enables upcoming artists to establish themselves by collaborating traditional Indian designs as well as contemporary designs. House of Himwitsa Native Art Gallery in Tofino carries an abundant amount of fine Native Indian jewelry ranging from gold, sterling silver, copper and pewter. Many of these are stunning hand-carved jewelries are designer pieces, which vary from eagles, salmon, whales, wolves, bears, ravens, hummingbirds, thunderbirds, sea otters, sun and moon; all of which are traditional animals from the Native people of the West Coast Pacific Rim in Canada.
