The bentwood box and jewlry is hand crafted in Richard's studio in British Columbia. The Bentwood Box - This box is a celebration of talents, uniting Native design and one of God's greatest gifts to the Northwest First Nations People, the Western Red Cedar Tree. Technically, Bentwood Boxes were remarkable achievement by the coastal First Nations. The sides and ends of this box are formed from one piece of straight grained Red Cedar. The insides of the corners are grooved prior to steaming and bending. Like Richard's Bentwood Box, traditional boxes of various sizes and shapes served as storage receptacles for food, clothing, ceremonial regalia, tools and valuables. The material is sterling silver.
