Native Artwork in Tofino, BC

The House of Himwitsa Native Art Gallery was established in 1991 in the rural town of Tofino, Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. The area is known for its abundance of bears, whales, eagles, salmon, and other magnificent wildlife. In addition, Tofino is commonplace for fishing trips, whale and bear watching, hiking, kayaking, and surfing. Its mountains, forests, and beaches are serene and beautiful.

There are many First Nations galleries throughout North America, but none like ours. It is owned and operated by members of the First Nations, specializing in Native artwork, First Nations carvings, First Nations jewellery, and traditional First Nations weaving by various talented and recognized local artists. Himwitsa means “The passing of knowledge from the elders to the young” in the Nuu-Chah-Nulth language. We are based in Tofino, BC, but welcome visitors from around the world.
