Victor West, an artist of Tlingit, Cree, and Irish descent, currently resides in Ucluelet, British Columbia. With a background in First Nations masters such as Bill Reid, Robert Davison, Reg Davison, David Boxely, Charles Edenshaw, and Dempsey Bob, Victor's work reflects fine craftsmanship and a keen artistic eye. His contemporary Tlingit carvings are meticulously carved, with precise clean paintwork and sharp-edge designs. He also creates limited and open edition prints with the same level of detail and skill. Victor takes great pride in his artwork and primarily utilizes Vancouver Island red and yellow cedar in his carvings, featuring iconic images of the Eagle, Raven, Killer Whale, Wolf, Owl, and Salmon, often inspired by traditional Tlingit bentwood boxes.
