Alvin Adkins is widely recognized as a leading expert in Northwest Coast First Nations jewellery carving. His exceptional silver and gold pieces are characterized by their intricate and fluid designs. Adkins' creativity shines through in his use of multiple animal forms to bring life to his creations. With a career spanning back to 1971, he has been mentored by esteemed colleagues such as Bill Reid, Freda Diesing, Robert Davidson, Dempsey Bob, and Don Yeomans. Famed for his high-quality gold and silver jewellery, Adkins is also skilled in carving argillite and wood. His attention to detail and unique approach to design is also evident in his silkscreen prints. In recognition of his achievements, Alvin was honored with the prestigious British Columbia Achievement Award for First Nations Art in 2010. Three years later, he was commissioned to create an 18kt gold bracelet for the Vancouver Opera, which measures an impressive two inches in width and features the four main crest.
