Malito Akesuk is an Inuit artist from Cape Dorset, Nunavut, known for his realistic carvings of small and medium-sized walking bears. His work is influenced by naturalism, observation, and reduction to abstract forms. He primarily carves marble or serpentine, a local stone similar to jade, which he finds in open pit mines on Baffin Island.
