Charlie Johnson was born in 1964 and belongs to the Kwaguilth First Nation. Inspired by his father, carver Sam Johnson, Charlie desired to explore his culture and the carving art form, and began carving at the age of 15. Charlie works mostly in wood and specializes in masks, rattles, and bowls. He has carved with Beau Dick, Simon Dick and Joe Peters. Charlie's work has been purchased by museums and collectors around the world.
