 Born on November 14, 1945 in Sardis, BC, Gilbert Pat is a talented Coast Salish jewelry carver who is best known for his family crest, the Sun. With a self-taught carving style, Gilbert has been honing his craft since 1976 and even makes his own tools, a skill he learned from renowned artist Lloyd Wadhams. Interestingly, despite working as a fisherman and carpenter for many years, Gilbert pursued his passion for art and made a name for himself in Alert Bay after moving there in 1966. His preferred materials for his intricate designs are silver and 14-karat gold.
