Norman Seaweed originates from Alert Bay, a small fishing village off the northeastern coast of Vancouver Island. This location is significant as it represents the Kwagiulth Nation, a tribe situated mainly in the southern region of the province. After receiving training in jewellery carving from Lloyd Wadhams in 1978, Norman honed his skills and expanded his artistic talents from drawing to wood carving, and eventually into the realm of silver and gold. Interestingly, Norman's silver carving skills have been passed down to his brothers Alfred, Paddy, and Rodney.
