Valencia Bird is a Canadian Indigenous multidisciplinary artist born in 1973 in Fort Mcleod Alberta. Valencia Is Northern Cree and belongs to the Saddle Lake First Nations near St.Paul, Alberta. She studied the traditional Coast Salish style as well as Northwest Coast designs from Gitxsan artists Trevor Angus and Jonathan Erickson at the Native Educational College in Vancouver, BC. Valencia has also been influenced in her painting technique from Nuu-Chah-Nulth artist Pat Amos. Valencia is proficient in various mediums such as Wood, Stone and Jewelry carvings. She is currently teaching and encouraging the next generation of artists to continue the ancestral storytelling through art.
