Victor Michael West hails from Tlingit, Cree and Irish heritage and currently lives in Ucluelet, British Columbia. Being a self-taught artist, Victor draws inspiration from renowned First Nations Masters like Bill Reid, Robert Davison, Reg Davison, David Boxely, Charles Edenshaw, and Dempsey Bob. He has also had the opportunity to collaborate with notable artists such as Thunderbird Jack, Dr. 'Old Bill Holm', and Clarence Mills. Victor's artistic skill and precision can be witnessed in his intricately carved contemporary Tlingit pieces, flawlessly painted artwork, and intricate designs in his limited edition and open end prints. He takes immense pride in his artwork and pursues it with passion, mainly working with Vancouver Island's red and yellow cedar wood. His creations often feature depictions of Eagle, Raven, Killer Whale, Wolf, Owl, and Salmon, incorporating elements from traditional Tlingit bentwood box designs.
